Figures released on Monday show August exports to Russia were up by 2%, boosted by sales of machinery and equipment, refined petroleum products, paper and board.
However, the value of all the nation’s exports was 2% lower than during the same month of 2015, at just slightly more than €3.9 billion.
The most important export countries registering a rise in August were the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France and Russia. Exports to Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands fell.
The balance of trade showed a deficit of €462 million in August. For the period of January-August, the balance of trade was in deficit by slightly over €1.7 billion.
