Record-high gas exports to EU

Norway and Russia in 2015 increased their gas sales to the EU by seven and eight percent.

Norway is beating its gas export records. In 2015, the country sold 108 billion cubic meters, the biggest volume ever. The national gas export pipelines were brought to the brink of capacity with a level of exploitation of more than 99 percent, a press release from gas export company Gassco reads.

The peak export level was reached on 22nd November when Gassco exported a total of 365,3 million cubic meters, the biggest per-day volume made from Norway to the continent.

The biggest buyers of the Norwegian gas are Germany, UK, France and Belgium.

Also Russia in 2015 significantly increased its gas sales to the EU. In the course of the year, a total of 159 billion cubic meters were exported, Interfax reports.

The biggest share of the Russian gas is sold to Germany, Italy and Turkey, the UK and Polan figures from Gazprom reads.
