Tromsø-Oulu flights started
AirBaltic with first direct east-west connection between Norway and Finland in the north.
The twice-weekly flight facilitate for much faster and easier east-west travel in the Barents Region.
Until this weekend, passengers traveling between northern areas of Norway and northern-Finland had to fly south, connect to an Oslo-Helsinki flight, wait, and connect further for a northbound flight to Oulu.
That route could take a day and another day on return.
The new direct route is operated with a Bombardier Q400 aircraft and takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. AirBaltic says flights from Oulu to Tromsø go on the evenings of Fridays and Sundays with return in the mornings on Saturdays and Mondays.
