Murmansk university loses accreditation

About 1200 students are affected as the Murmansk Technical University loses its official accreditation on key parts of its teaching program. 

According to the Federal Education and Research Control Service (Rosobrnadzor), the university has failed to meet required student training standards and is subsequently deprived its accreditation in the fields of economy and management, humanitarian sciences and service sector training. 

All affected student on bachelor and master-levels will now have to address other educational institutions in order to get federally approved diplomas, Murman.ru informs.

The Murmansk Technical University is among the biggest in the region. It has about 10,000 students. The university structure includes six institutes, four faculties and 41 departments, the MSTU informs on its website.

The accreditation issue comes as a major reshuffle in the regional university structures is on its way. Regional authorities intend to merge the region’s current three universities into one big Arctic University.
