The young woman is accused of 'justification of terrorism.'

17-year-old faces 10 years in prison for 'justification of terrorism'

According to the FSB, the young woman from Arkhangelsk supports terrorist attacks in Russia and "wants Russians to feel the same as the Ukrainians."

The Russian security service has detained the young woman arguing that she is a 'threat to national security.'

"This resident of Arkhangelsk feels joy about terrorist acts on the territory of Russia, [and] wants Russians to feel the same as the Ukrainians," a statement from the FSB reads.

A video shared by the repressive security service shows officers raiding the apartment of the girl and questioning her.

Raid and interrogation in the home of a 17-year-old girl.

"Are people in Russia worried about you?" an officers asks, whereupon the 17-year-old responds with the same question "Are people in Russia worried about you?"

The officer then asks: "Are people in Ukraine worried about you?"

The woman responds: "Well, at least they haven't hurt me."

The young woman now faces up to ten years in prison.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, she is charged of 'justification of terrorism' and of 'public calls for activities aimed against national security.'

"The investigators have established that the under-aged in open, public chats on a messenger service has supported an ideology of terrorism and also posted information materials that instigate terrorist activity," the Investigative Committee in Arkhangelsk reports.

The woman has been sent to a regional pre-trial detention centre.

There have been several other similar cases in the north Russian region. Among them is the recent detention of a woman from the town of Kotlas, who publicly expressed support for arson against a military draft office. She later expressed repentance and avoided a term in prison. She instead got a 300,000 ruble (€3,200) fine.

Activists, journalists and regime-critics across Russia have been convicted on the same charges. In the Komi Republic, teacher Nikita Tushkanov got 5,5 years in prison for a social media post about the explosion at the Crimea bridge. Sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky got 5 years for a similar post.

According to human rights organisation Memorial, the FSB has put several dozens of Russians behind bars on the same charges.
