First salmon truck in six years
Fresh salmon transported over the Norwegian-Russian border at Storskog / Borisoglebsk.
Norwegian salmon exporters have for years been trying to get permission to transport fresh salmon from northern Norway in to the markets in Russia via the land border in the north.
This is the first time since 2005 that fresh salmon are crossing the Norwegian, Russian land border.

Russia is the second largest market for Norwegian salmon outside the EU. The majority of the salmon are sent by trucks crossing the border via St. Petersburg or by air-cargo directly to Moscow.
Norway exported 350,000 tons of fish at a value of €625 million to Russia in 2010.
