Huge difference in regional unemployment
The unemployment rate in the different counties in the northernmost part of the Barents Region is like day and night.
Finnish Lapland has 13 percent, while Norbotten in Sweden and Finnmark in Norway have just over 3 percent unemployment rate.
Despite there is a common work-force market among the three Nordic countries in the Barents Region, the differences are huge.
Also, there are differences between north and south in the three countries. In Norway, the highest unemployment rate is in Oslo, while in Finland, the south-western areas have the lowest unemployment rate.
In Sweden as such, the unemployment rate is 7,4 percent, twice as high as in Norbotten.
