Recommends ratification of Barents Sea Treaty

A Russian ratification of the agreement with Norway on delimitation of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean is one step closer to realization.

The Russian State Duma’s Committee for International Relations recommends that the treaty on delimitation of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean should be ratified by the State Duma. The committee discussed the Treaty at a meeting yesterday, RIA Novosti reports.

The treaty will be handled in a State Duma plenary session on 25 March. The sessions will be opened by speeches by Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Head of the State Duma’s Committee for International Relations Konstantin Kosachev.
