Petrozavodsk court extends arrest of researcher of Stalin’s repressions Yuri Dmitriev

The arrest of Karelian researcher of Stalin’s repressions Yuri Dmitriev has been extended for three months

The meeting in the case of Yuri Dmitriev, the Karelian researcher of Stalin’s repressions, the Head of the Karelian branch of the Memorial Society who was accused of «violent acts of a sexual nature against a minor», continued in the Petrozavodsk City Court.

On 12 and 13 December, the court questioned 10 defence witnesses. During the meeting on December 13, Yuri Dmitriev’s arrest was extended until March 25.

December 13 marked three years since the detention of Yuri Dmitriev. He was first arrested on December 13, 2016 on suspicion of making pornographic pictures of his adopted daughter, on April 5, 2018, the Petrozavodsk court acquitted him, on July 14, the Karelian court cancelled this decision, all the cases against Dmitriev are combined into one now.
