Navalny’s widow added to Russia’s wanted list
Yulia Navalnaya is charged in absentia with “participating in an extremist group”.
Moscow Basmanny district court has charged the widow of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, with “committing a crime under Part 2 Art. 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an extremist group)”, the united press service of the Moscow courts reported on its official Telegram channel.
According to the statement, Yulia Navalnaya
“hid from the preliminary investigation and therefore was put on the wanted list.”
The Basmanny court of Moscow has also determined
“a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 2 months”
which means that Yulia Navalnaya will be detained as soon as she puts her feet on Russian soil.
Earlier this year Yulia Navalnaya vowed she would continue her late husband’s work.
Alexei Navalny was a prominent Russian opposition leader, known for conducting high-level anti-corruption investigations in the country.
On February 16, 2024, Russian prison services reported that the opposition politician died in the remote Arctic prison camp of Kharp.
