Victory for Putin also in Barents Russia

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin received a triumphal victory in Sunday’s presidential elections in Russia with nearly 64 percent of the votes when 98 percent of the ballots are counted.

Also in the Russian part of the Barents region most voters gave their support to Putin, but to a lower degree compared to average in the country.

Only in the Rebulic of Komi did Putin receive more votes than the average with 65 percent – in the Republic of Karelia he got as little as 55 percent of the votes.

This situation is somewhat different from the results after the parliamentary election in December 2011, when the North-Western parts of Russia gave Putin’s party United Russia a lot fewer votes than the rest of Russia did.

In Murmansk Oblast Vladimir Putin received 60.05 percent of the votes. The Communist Party’s Gennady Zyuganov 16 percent, the independent candidate Mikhail Prokhorov 9.65 percent, the Liberal Democtatic Party’s Vladmir Zhirinovsky 8.09 percent and A Just Russia’s Sergey Mironov 5.05 percent.

The numbers are based on official information from the Central Election Commission.

In Arkhangelsk Oblast Putin got 57.97 percent of the votes. Zyuganov got 15.94 percent, Prokhorov 10.45 percent, Zhirinovsky 8.90 percent and Mironov 5.78 percent.

In the Republic of Karelia Vladimir Putin got 55.38 %, Zyuganov 16.47 %, Prokhorov 12.22 %, Zhirinovsky 8.59 % and Mironov 6.10 %.

In the Republic of Komi the results were as following: Putin 65.02 %, Zyuganov 13.34 %, Prokhorov 8.32 %, Zhirinovsky 7.67 % and Mironov 4.32 %.

In Nenets Autonomous Okrug 57.05 % gave their vote to Putin, 17.27 % to Zyuganov, 10.04 % to Prokhorov, 9.04 % to Zhirinovsky and 5.30 % to Mironov.
