Sunset for Barents solar industry
Hundreds of jobs in the solar industry in northern Norway and northern Sweden could go.
Renewable Energy Corporation has announced the permanently shut down of its factories in Glomfjord and Narvik in northern Norway. The plant in Glomfjord produced wafer, while the plant in Narvik made solar cells.
In Porjus in northern Sweden, Latitude Solar last week announced that all 50 employees could lose their jobs, as the solar cell market has dropped drastically the latest few months, reports Radio Norrbotten.
