Barents Russia seeking investments
Mining industry, telecommunications, energy, food production and housing construction are the prioritized investment project in Northwestern part of Russia.
Russia is pointing out important regional sectors to get large-scale funding in the nearest years. Nine investments projects from the Russian Barents regions have been included in the list.
The list is to be a part of the federal strategy of social and economic development of the Northwestern Russia till 2020 which is now under development.
Later this year the Strategy will be adopted by the Ministry of regional development of Russia and will be used in regional policy of the Federal Government. Among them five projects in Arkhangelsk oblast, three projects in Murmansk oblast and one project in Nenets Autonomous okrug. The regional proposals were presented by the Governors Ilia Mikhalchuk (Arkhangelsk oblast), Dmitry Dmitrenko (Murmansk oblast) and Igor Fedorov (NAO) on the governmental meeting in St. Petersburg on Tuesday this week.
The project of Nenets okrug includes development of 300-kilometers fiber-optic line from Ust’-Tzilma in the Komi Republic to Narjan-Mar which will allow to provide sustainable telephone and Internets connection in the region, reports spbit.ru.
The projects of Murmansk oblast include:
• complex development of Murmansk transport hub
• modernization of mining and mineral processing of vermiculite, phlogopite and pegmatite on the Kola Peninsula
Construction of mining and processing plant based on deposits of apatite-nepheline ore in Oleny Ruchey. Total volume of investments for these projects is estimated as 150 billion rubles, according to Regnum.
Arkhangelsk oblast succeeded to include five projects in the list:
• Construction of mining and processing plant on the basis of diamonds deposit named after Grib
• Development of egg production on the Velsk poultry
• Construction of the wood-pellets production plant in Ustjansky district
• Reconstruction of Arkhangelsk airport
• Construction of new residential complex in one of the districts of Arkhangelsk
The volume of investments needed for realization of these five projects are 40 billion rubles, reports Dvinaland.
