More Finns relax in Russia
There is a significant growth in the number of Finns going to Russia for leisure trips.
Russia is the country which in 2010 saw the strongest growth in the number of Finnish travelers. Figures from Statistics Finland show that 192 thousand Finnish citizens last year went on leisure trips to neighboring country in the east compared with 125 thousand in 2009.
Estonia is the most popular destination for Finns. A total of 900 thousand people visited the country in 2010, an increase of 182 thousand from 2009. Sweden is the second most popular destination for Finns, with a total of 459 thousand visitors, followed by Spain with 380 thousand.
The number of Finns visiting Russia is, despite the significant growth in 2010, far lower than the number of Russians visiting Finland. As previously reported, almost 2,6 million Russians visited Finland in 2010, an increase of 17 percent from the previous year.
