45 % increase at Salla
Rovaniemi and Levi in Finnish Lapland are popular destinations for people from Murmansk.
11.841 border crossings in April compared with 7.764 in April last year. Both shopping in Rovaniemi and vacations at the ski-resort in Levi can explain the increase in numbers of people from the Murmansk Region visiting Lapland.
A total of 50.984 border crossings took place in the first four months of 2011, up from 35.212 the same period in 2010. The increase is 45% percent, shows the statistics from the Finnish border guards.
