Border law amended
The Russian State Duma approves several amendments in the country’s law on the state border.
The amendments will enhance the federal authorities’ ability to develop infrastructure facilities in the border areas, RIA Novosti reports. It will also be easier both for state and private interests to erect buildings for the use of border and customs control, the news agency informs.
The federal Russian law on the state border was adopted in 1993.
Russia has a more than 60,000 kilometer long state border. Of this 20,000 km long land border towards sixteen neighboring countries. 36 of the 83 Russian federal subjects border on foreign states.
