Støre ready for sauna talks

Three of the four Foreign Ministers from Barents Region countries to meet top European colleagues near border to Russia in the north.

- Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is invited and has confirmed to participate, says press-spokesman Lauri Tierala in the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to BarentsObserver.

The meeting at the ski-resort Sarisaalkä on March 18-20 will be Europe’s largest unofficial foreign ministers meeting. Finnish Lapland is famous for its saunas and in the Barents Region, unofficial strategy discussions often take place in saunas.

Russia’s Sergey Lavrov is the only foreign minister from a Barents Region country that so far has not confirmed to take part in the northern sauna talks.
