Russia honors Norwegian diplomat
Norway’s top diplomat and next Consul General to Murmansk Øyvind Nordsletten is awarded with the Russian Order of Friendship by President Dmitry Medvedev.
Nordsletten is awarded with the order for his great contribution in developing and strengthening the relationship between Russia and Norway, B-Port writes.
Nordsletten was Norway’s Ambassador to Russia in 2000-2008 and has a long career within the Foreign Ministry. He has been Ambassador to Ukraine and Belarus, and is currently stationed in Dublin.
As BarentsObserver wrote, Nordsletten is likely to become Norway’s next Consul General in Murmansk after Jon Fredriksen leaves the post this summer.
The Order of Friendship is not Nordsletten’s first Russian medal. In 2008 he was awarded with the badge of honor “For Contribution in International Cooperation” for his long and fruitful contribution in developing good neighborly relationship between Russia and Norway.
