Arkhangelsk one step closer to Shtokman
Shtokman Development AG has approved a concept for participation of companies from Arkhangelsk Oblast in the development of the Shtokman gas condensate field in the Barents Sea.
The concept describes the possibilities regional companies have for participation in the different stages of the development, their technical potential etc, Nord News reports. Arkhangelsk Oblast has high hopes for the huge gas field, especially when it comes to the possibilities of establishing a supply base in the region and an advanced base on the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago.
By the end of the year, Shtokman Development AG plans to arrange a series of seminars in Arkhangelsk, where regional companies can get information on the technical aspects of the different parts of the project like the underwater installations and the floating production unit, as well as supply and logistics, labor safety and accident prevention.
Eight large companies from Arkhangelsk Oblast are participating in tenders on the Shtokman project, according to Nord News. Arkhangelsk has two of Russia’s largest shipyards – Zvezdochka and Sevmash.
