Naval divers of the Northern Fleet’s special purpose force were in action at one of the bases for nuclear powered submarines on the coast of the Kola Peninsula.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence says the scenario was an attack by an underwater sabotage group, which the fleet’s divers detected and eliminated quickly.

Counter-terrorist and anti-sabotage trainings will be held regularly at the Northern Fleet’s bases and garrisons this year, the Ministry informs.

Along the coast of the Barents Sea, the navy has five naval bases; Severomorsk, Aleksandrovsk, Gadzhievo, Vidyayevo and Zaozyorsk.
