Comeback rector Elena Kudryasheva

She was charged for economic mismanagement, suspended from her job and subjected to travel restrictions. Now, all charges are revoked and Kudryasheva is re-appointed Rector of the Northern Arctic Federal University in Arkhangelsk.

A government decree of 26th January reads that Kudryasheva is appointed Rector of NARFU with a duration of five years. With that decree comes an end to a long and haunting process against the university leader.

In March 2015, Kudryasheva was charged for having mismanaged seven million rubles of federal funds in connection with the construction of a new university library. It was the regional FSB, which filed the charges, newspaper Biznes Klass, reminds.

She was suspended from her job, travel restrictions were imposed and four years behind bars loomed.

In December, however, the Russian Investigative Committee withdrew all allegations.

Elena Kudryasheva is Professor of Philosophy and was first appointed rector of the Northern Arctic Federal University in 2010. Before that, she served as Arkhangelsk deputy governor. She is now set to lead the biggest teaching institution in the Russian north until year 2021.
