More oil through Ob Bay
Gazprom Neft ships 110 thousand tons of oil from its Novy Port field.
The company this winter successfully sent seven tanker loads of oil from the Novy Port field to the world markets. The total volume of oil amounted to 110,000 tons, a press release informs.
It is the first year with comprehensive winter shipping of oil from the oil field, one of the biggest in the Yamal Peninsula. The shipments were conducted with support from Rosatom’s nuclear icebreaker fleet.
As previously reported, Gazprom Neft in February this year conducted its first winter shipment of oil along the Northern Sea Route.
“The long-term strategy of the company envisages bigger Arctic extraction both on land and at sea”, company Board Chairman Aleksandr Dyukov says. “These projects continue to be under development and will in few years time account for a significant share of the company’s extraction”, he adds.
Gazprom Neft intends to boost production at the field to 5,5 million per year. The oil is pipelined from the inland deposit to the Cape Kammeny on the coast of the Ob Bay. From there, the oil is taken by tankers to the markets.
The company is in the process of constructing a full-fledged terminal facility at Cape Kamenny, and is also building a second pipeline connection between the field and the terminal. A 600,000 ton capacity pipeline already exists.
