Seismic shooting in Pechora Sea
Oil company Rosneft is conducting seismic mapping of two of its key lisence areas in the Pechora Sea.
A total of 800 square kilometers of waters will be explored with 3D mapping at the license areas of Zapadno-Matveevsky and Medynsko-Varandeysky, RIA Novosti reports.
The two licenses are located in the eastern part of the Pechora Sea. The mapping will be conducted by contractor company Sevmorneftegeofizika with the vessels “Akademik Nemchinov” and “Yevgeny Yegorov”.
The Medynsko-Varandeyskoye field holds an estimated 82 million tons of oil reserves and earlier belonged to Arktikshelfneftegaz, the Murmansk-based company which in 2012 was acquired by Rosneft.
Rosneft this summer also intends to map the license areas of Pomorsky, Russky, Severo-Pomorsky1, Yuzhno-Russky, Zapadno-Matveevsky and Yuzhno-Prinovozemelsky, all of them located in the Pechora Sea, a report from Rosneft confirms.
As previously reported, Rosneft is also in the process of starting mapping of the prospective Fedinskoye area in the Barents Sea, a license area which is part of the company’s cooperation agreement with Italian company Eni.
