A high school in Arkhangelsk has started production of grenade components
Teachers and school kids in Gymnasium No 24 in the north Russian city of Arkhangelsk are using the school 3D machines to produce thousands of fins for grenades. All of it is sent to the front in Ukraine.
"These components are now much needed for our compatriots — the servicemen of the Northern Fleet's 200th Motorised Rifle Brigade," says Aleksandr Fomin, Director of the so-called Arkhangel Children's Development Center.
The center that is run and financed by municipal authorities is providing military training and so-called patriotic education for local children and youth.
"All kind of help is now very important, it again shows the unity of our people and the readiness of each and every one of us to provide our resources to the protection of the motherland," Fomin underlines in a comment.
The leader of the militaristic youth center has teamed up with the local Gymnasium No 24 and its teacher Denis Koposov.
Toposov teaches computer science and manages several 3D printers. Over the past months, he and his pupils have used the machines to produce thousands of fins for grenades.
In the war zone, the components are connected with explosives and dropped from drones.
The grenade fins are of great demand as both warring sides have boosted their use of drones. Companies and individuals across Russia are now requested to use their 3D printers to produce the components. In several regions, politicians from Putin’s United Russia party have initiated local production campaigns. The grenade fins are also for sale at Russia’s major online retailer Wildberries.
In Arkhangelsk, Gymnasium No 24 and teacher Denis Koposov are praised for the contributions.
"We express gratitude to Denis Koposev for his involvement in the project," representatives of several patriotic youth organisations in the region say.
"They have produced 400 components in less than two weeks. It is spectacular!" the Arkhangel Children's Development Center writes on its VK page.
“This is joint work for a good purpose. Together we can do more," the local Arkhangelsk Military-Historical Society adds.
Denis Koposov is a respected teacher in Arkhangelsk. In 2023, he was awarded a Diploma of Excellence from the Ministry of Enlightenment for his teaching.
Apparently, the teacher supports the ruling expansionist world view in today's Russia.
“Actually, a teacher is like a border guard, only that our borders are different. Also we serve so that Russia’s border can be endless,” he writes on his VK page.
