Nordic parliamentarians invited to Murmansk
Speaker in the Murmansk Regional Duma Yevgeny Nikora has invited parliamentarians from the Nordic council to discuss energy related questions in Murmansk in April, 2011.
The invitation was given during a recent meeting in the Arctic Council in Reykjavik, Iceland, web site B-port.com reports. Nikora took part in the meetings as an invited guest, along with Head of the Murmansk Regional Committee on legislation Pavel Sazhinov.
In Murmansk Nikora plans to arrange a roundtable discussion on topics like energy efficiency, safe exploitation of nuclear power and development of renewable resources in northern areas.

Yevgeny Nikora also suggests arranging a forum for young parliamentarians from the Nordic countries and Northwest-Russia in Arkhangelsk next spring. Last time such an event took place, was in March 2010, when 50 young politicians gathered in Kirkenes, Norway, to discuss regional political cooperation across the borders in the north.
