Norwegian flags stir a flurry in Kursk
The owner of a shop that sells clothes marked with Norwegian flags near the war zone in the Kursk region is accused of "agitating for the enemy."
The small shop that carries the name Norwegian Exhibition is under mounting pressure after a local politician accused the shop owner of promoting products from 'an aggressor country.'
The politician, who represents the so-called Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), says he is provoked of the shop's marketing materials that display the national flag of the Nordic country.

In a video, Aleksei Tomanov says that he will take the case to 'the appropriate authorities' and hints that there will be consequences for the shop owner.
As he speaks, two of his assistants are seen demonstratively removing a shop placard in the background.
According to Tomanov, the Norwegian flags are provocative for the soldiers fighting on the nearby frontline.
"We all know that Norway is an aggressor country that supplies finances to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and grenades from Norway are targeting civilians in Kursk region, peaceful inhabitants are being killed, soldiers are killed," he says.
Aleksei Tomanov and the Liberal Democratic Party are strong supporters of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. Party leader Leonid Slutsky is on the sanctions lists of the EU, USA, UK and several more countries.
Norway is a strong supporter of Ukraine's resistance against the Russian war of aggression and has supplied the country with arms and finances.
The Kursk region is located along the border with Ukraine. It was attacked and partly occupied by Ukrainian forces in an offensive in August 2024. Eight months after the incursion, parts of the Russian region remains under Ukrainian control.
It is not the first time that a Norwegian flag stirs protest among Russian warmongering nationalists. In early 2024, a wave of public criticism rose against two government officials from the north Russian Komi region that wore caps with Norwegian flags on.
