Norwegian and Russian Governors with same income
Information about income and fortune made available for the public by both Murmansk and Arkhangelsk governors.
The figures are from the income-year 2010. Arkhangelsk governor Ilya Mikhalchuk earned 2,68 million RUB (some €66,000), while his wife Jeanette made nearby the same, 2,5 million RUB, reports Barentsnova.
In Murmansk, Governor Dmitri Dmitrienko had an official income of 2,46 million RUB (some €60,500). He also owns two flats.
The two Barents Russian Governors have nearby the same income as their colleagues from Northern Norway. Finnmark Governor Runar Sjåstad made 576,548 NOK (€72,000), while Pia Svensgaard, Governor of Troms had an income of NOK 665,364 (€72,000). The income is made public for all Norwegian citizens ever year.
Since Norwegians pays higher tax, normally between 30 and 40 percent, than Russian tax payers (13 pecent flat tax), the Governors in both Murmansk and Arkhangelsk got more in their pockets than the Finnmark and Troms Governors.
