Studying to do business in Russia
The High North Center at Bodø Graduate School of Business has launched a new MBA program called “Business in Russia”. 30 students from all over Norway have just started a 2,5 year part-time study that will make them better able to do business in Russia.
The MBA program is a post-qualifying education course directed towards business leaders and focuses on business cooperation with Russia and understanding of Russia’s culture, history and other characteristics.
The program is organized in cooperation with Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Sessions will be held 3-4 times each semester in Bodø, Kirkenes, Murmansk, Moscow and Oslo.
The course started last week with an introduction course to Russia with some of Norway’s leading experts on Russian politics and society.
The introduction course introduced the students to the political, economic and social driving forces shaping developments in Russia today and placing them in their historical and institutional contexts.
Attention is directed towards the Russian North both in order to see how broader political and economic trends manifest themselves more concretely and because the region is Norway’s most important contact point with Russia. Group and individual work on scenario thinking and writing will serve to develop participants’ abilities to assess risks and assimilate and analyse breaking news about Russia.
