- I will take more photos of elks

What to do after politics? Regional and municipal election coming up in Norway.

Kjell Sæther has the plans clear after he leaves office as the currently longest acting mayor in Norway.

– I will spend much more time on taking photos of elks, he told the newspaper VG. Kjell Sæther has been mayor in Karasjok for six periods since 1988.

Karasjok is the Sami capital in Finnmark, Norway’s northernmost county. Mayor Kjell Sæther has been active in cross-border cooperation, both towards the Kola Peninsula and neighbouring Finland, since before the official Barents cooperation was established in 1993.

Norway has 430 municipalities and all have election on September 12th. Simultaneously, elections to the county councils take place. The three counties in northern Norway; Nordland, Troms and Finnmark all have county governors from the labour party and it is expected that all three will continue in position for the next four year.
