Yamal licences to Novatek
Russia’s second biggest gas producer Novatek gets licenses to four major fields in and around the Yamal Peninsula.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has ordered the government to award licenses to Russia’s largest independent gas producer Novatek for four deposits on the Yamal peninsula in the north of the country, the government said on Friday, RIA Novosti reports.
With the new licenses, Novatek will boost its resource base in the gas-rich region. From before, Novatek controls the license to the South Tambey field, which has proven gas reserves of more than 1,2 trillion cubic meters.
Novatek was the only bidder for the right to develop Geofizichenskoye, Salmanovskoye (Utrenneye), Severo-Obskoye and Vostochno-Tambeiskoye fields at a June auction which was ruled null and void.
