High salaries for northern state officials
State officials in the Nenets regional administration earn over 100 000 roubles per month – more than three times the Russian average.
The average salary of state officials in Russian regions in late 2010 was 28 900 roubles (app. €722). This was 2.6 percent more than in 2009. The richest civil servants work in the administration of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO), with an average salary of 108 700 roubles (app. €2715), Dvina Inform reports.
State officials in Arkhangelsk Oblast also have decent incomes – they earn 2.5 times more than other workers in the region, which is the highest ratio in Russia.
