Oil spill to lake
An oil spill from the Souyarvi Cardboard Plant in the Republic of Karelia is polluting the local lake.
At least 100 tons of oil spilled into the Suoyarvi lake during a technical maintenance operation at an oil pipeline leading to the plant. The spill took place on 24 February, Regnum reports. An investigation has been initiated and a cleanup operation is unfolding, the news agency informs. Suoyarvi is located in the central part of the Republic of Karelia. It has about 11 thousand inhabitants.
