“You must have good analytical skills and experience in analytic work related to Russia,” reads one of the qualification needs listed in the advertisement.
The job description is posted on Finn.no, one of Norway’s most common web-portals for vacant positions.
Salary offered is not bad, starting at NOK 528,800 (€55,600) to NOK 613,500 (€64,500) depending on your education and experience.
If you want the job, you have to satisfy the requirements for maximum-security clearance. The Intelligence Service emphasises that Norwegian citizenship is a must.
Knowledge in Russian language is also an advantage.
The Intelligence Service does not specify where the person will be posted. On its portal, however, the different locations of the Intelligence Service are listed. Main administration is at Lutvann in Oslo. Other locations are Fauske, Andøya, Vardø and Varanger (Vadsø and Kirkenes area). At Eggemoen in Ringerike, the service has a location collecting information from space-satellites.
There is a lot of secrecy regarding the Intelligence Service. The last couple of years, however, NIS has published its annual assessment report, Focus that can be downloaded by everybody from the portal of the Norwegian Defence.
