The Nenets Fisheries Union takes a leap into Arctic fisheries as it gets its new state of the art trawler. The ship this week left the Turkish Tersan Shipyard with course for the Barents Sea, the press service of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug informs.

The vessel named «Pechora» is a floating factory with top modern trawling equipment, as well as equipment for processing, freeze and packing.

The ship will have Naryan-Mar as its home port and operate in the Barents Sea.

The investment is based on company money, as well a 75.1 million Norwegian kroner credit from the VTB Bank, Korabel.ru reports. The ship is designed by the Norwegian company Skipsteknisk.

The new trawler will enable the Nenets Fisheries Union to multiply both catch and processing.

The Union will now scrap its two aging vessels «Serpukhov» and «Zaployarye», while the 22 year old «Nes’» will be applied only for coastal fishing, company representatives told Korabel.ru
