Tromsø sees Norway’s highest rise in hotel prices
2019 became the year when hotels in Tromsø in average earned more per room than hotels Oslo. Winter tourism is a major reason.
Incomes for hotels are calculated as revenue per available room (RevPAR). It gives a good indication of how many rooms are sold and at which price.
RevPAR for Tromsø hotels was up 13,7% to 776 kroner (€78) in 2019, Norwegian business Daily Dagens Næringsliv reports. No. 2 on the list in Norway is Oslo with 750 kroner.
More than 73% of the rooms were sold in average. Price per room-night was up 100 kroner (€10) year-on-year.
Tromsø has over the last few years got several new large hotels that takes advantage of the fast-growing winter tourism in the region. Northern lights, whale safaris, and loads of snow are highlights for an increasing number of European and Asian tourists.
