The FINNMARKSLØPET 2024 sled dog race took place in Kirkenes

Finnmarksløpet is the longest sled dog race in Europe. It has been held annually since 1981, with the exception of 2021 when it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The race consists of several stages. The first one is 600 km long and involves up to 8 dogs. There is also an open class - this is 1200 kilometers, with a maximum of 14 dogs per team. This race takes place in the county of Finnmark, from Alta to Kirkenes and back.
