Russia is no immediate military threat to Norway, but there is considerable uncertainty connected to the country’s long-term development, the Norwegian Intelligence Service says.
The Norwegian Armed Forces’ main winter exercise, Cold Response 2016, will be held in the Trøndelag counties in Central Norway. Around 15,000 personnel from 14 countries are expected to participate.
“We assess Russia’s capacity for and intention to carry out espionage against Norway as having the greatest potential for harming Norway and the Norwegian interest,” says Benedicte Bjørnland, Chief of Norwegian Police Security Service (PST).
